The smaller of two aviaries along the main route Aquarium-Elephant enclosure was severly damaged.The structure was newly erected as a spatial steel frame above a new reinforced concrete animal enclosure. The scheme did incoporate the demands by the heritage office and was closely based on the original proposals from the beginning of the last century.
