The city of Leipzig decided in accordance with the new school development plan to accomodate the Adolph-Diesterweg-School at the location Portitzer Straße. The old worn-out Sellerhauser School was demolished and the existing historical building fabric was renovated. A fully new build extension with a sports hall at the basement and two storeys of classroom was designed. The original proposal of an insitu solution was later amended to an prefab scheme to account for the tight programme.
